We will grind your coffee for you! When you order each coffee, there is a drop-down menu with every type of grind setting we offer, just pick the one that best describes your brew-type!
Our coffee is so fresh that it will last you at least a month without much degradation of flavor! Coffee is best kept in a cool, dry place, and the more air-tight, the better! Our tin-tie bags will work perfectly fine to keep your coffee fresh for up to 4-6 weeks.
Most of our coffee and tea origins are noted in the name or in the description. All our coffee and tea come to us from dozens of major coffee and tea exporting countries all over the world.
We roast all our coffee in house, and some you can even see right before your eyes in the back of our retail store location in the Strip District! We also have a roast house that is not open to the public right outside of the city limits of Pittsburgh where we roast more coffee and ship most of our online orders.
At Prestogeorge, our coffee is roasted in-house by our master roasters. We follow a traditional dry, fire roasted technique in drum-type roasters. We utilize two Jabez-Burns roasters that are each over 100 years old, and a newer Probat roaster that is manufactured in the same style as our original roasters. Each coffee is hand roasted to the specific roast level we have deemed best for each coffee that we carry.
At Prestogeorge, our coffee is at the perfect intersection point of high-quality beans, roasted with care and devotion to the craft, and accessibility and affordability. And we do this while also providing a huge selection, all freshly roasted, with items to match every palate and taste preference. Doing so also supports three generations of a family-owned and -operated business, which employs a growing number of Pittsburgh-based employees. You can also be sure you are supporting ethical business practices, as even though we are a small business, Prestogeorge employs at a starting wage over $2 higher than the average starting wage for similar jobs in our area.
Black tea is the most caffeinated, which is followed by oolong tea, then green tea, then white tea. Red teas and most herbal teas are free of caffeine.

Depending on how far you live from Pittsburgh, your ship times can vary. We do our best to get all orders out within two days of being placed, and most postal ship times to all parts of the country are within a week. On average, you can expect your package at your doorstep 2-4 days from placing your order.
The best brewing method is the one that tastes best to you! If you are new to the coffee brewing game, we recommend trying new things to discover what you like—for example, a French Press will brew coffee that is generally more flavorful and richer than coffee from an automatic drip pot, but at the expense of time and energy. It is all about the best method for your personal taste and lifestyle.
Every brewing method is different, and we recommend following the instructions given from your personal device. A general rule of thumb and a good place to start is one tablespoon of ground coffee per 8oz of water. Adjusting the amount of coffee grinds per cup of water is a good way to make coffee taste bolder or milder. Homing in your coffee preferences takes trial and error, and is all part of the fun!
No!!! We love your grandma, but this is an outdated method of keeping coffee fresh. The moisture of a refrigerator is not good for your coffee and can cause your coffee to develop mold. The freezer is a much safer place! Treat it like you would when you defrost food—seal it in a freezer safe container, defrost to room temperature before use, and do not refreeze!
Absolutely! We have a wide range of decaffeinated coffee, tea, and many herbal teas that have no caffeine at all!
We are happy to take requests! You may give us a call or utilize the “Custom Blend” option in coffee or tea.
At Prestogeorge we do our best to ensure that our coffees come from reputable and sustainable sources. We carry many coffees that even have certification for their sustainability and health standards, such as Organic, Fair-Trade, Rainforest Alliance, Swiss Water, Utz Certified, Farm-Direct, etc. It is also important to note that just because a coffee does not have a certification, does not mean that it is unhealthy or farmed unsustainably.
