Prestogeorge’s Organic Haitian Blue Mountain Coffee has become a staple of our menu, and for good reason. Lovers of the far more expensive Jamaican Blue Coffee flock to this rare bean for its extreme similarities, lower price point, and excellent sustainability. This unique-to-region varietal (“Blue Mountain”) boasts smooth and mild nutty, buttery, and creamy goodness. This organic coffee is a Blue Mountain varietal that is completely shade grown (which is rare for Haiti) at an elevation of 1200 m asl. Very mild and mellow with no acidity or bitterness. If you are a fan of Jamaican Blue Mountain or Kona coffees, you will love this mild bean.

Organic Haitian Blue coffee derives from a cooperative in the Norde Region of Haiti. The cooperative is run by an old Haitian man who used to be a physics professor in Port Au Prince. They are the operators and beneficiaries of a reforestation effort called the "own-a-tree" project and employ about 30% female farmers and workers. This amazing cooperative is bolstered by efforts to revitalize Haiti’s economy and society, which has been devasted by natural disaster, corruption, and geopolitical pressures. With the help of cooperatives like this, Haiti is finally able to bring their amazing coffees to market with practices that are sustainable and replicable. As of now this is the first and only organic certified coffee to come from Haiti and is perhaps the finest in all the Carribean. This is the gold standard for what cooperative and sustainable coffee farming can look like.
