Ethiopia, 9th century. A goat herder was tending to his flock. He soon noticed something odd. His goats would eat red berries from a plant he did not know. Not long after the goats are jumping and running around, seemingly full of boundless energy. Being curious himself, he tried the mysterious energizing red berries. No surprise, he experienced the same type of increased energy boost. This is the story that is told about how Ethiopia became the birthplace of Arabica coffee.
